What We do

Procurement, Warehousing & Distribution

The procurement function of the Health Pooled Fund (HPF) supports the Government of the Republic of South Sudan with the implementation of the supply chain for essential pharmaceuticals and medical consumables. This includes procuring of high quality and fresh production pharmaceuticals and supporting the delivery in form of pre-packed kits based on quantification and forecasting of essential medicine in South Sudan. These procurements are undertaken considering consumption, seasonal uptake and migration amongst the states supported under the HPF.

HPF is operating 5,200 m2 of Drug and Food Control Authority (DFCA) approved and temperature-controlled warehousing in the centre of Juba, supporting the receipt, warehousing, marking, documenting and pushing-out of the pre-packed pharmaceuticals and medical consumables. Keeping track of Batch numbers and expiry dates enables HPF to specifically target deliveries in case a pharmaceutical “call back” is being announced by the respective manufacturer. Having a well-functioning warehouse facility in Juba enables HPF to adequately respond to unscheduled health outbreaks and support other partners and UN Agencies to include their deliveries into our well defined pharmaceutical national distribution supply chain, supporting over 800 health facilities under HPF.

County Health Departments (CHDs) are benefiting from Implementing Partner’s input of strengthening the supply chain management and utilisation of quality pharmaceuticals and medical supplies & consumables within the States supported. The support to the CHD’s allows them to receive the pre-packed kits and collaborate with the Implementing Partners to have the last mile distribution implemented and deliver the kits to the pre-defined end-users.

The procurement team is a blend of International Procurement Agency and Crown agents who ensure the availability of safe, effective and quality essential medicines and supplies in all HPF supported facilities.
